Event: amidst monsters and gods
A quick heads-up for all fans of the world famous FIESA International Sand Sculpture Festival: this year, it only starts on 8 June!
Talented sculptors and artists from around the globe use approximately 35,000 tons of sand to create transient works of art that are at times of immense proportions. Giant figures, stunning buildings and fantastical scenes transport visitors to a dream world.
The festival has a different theme every year, such as past cultures, wonders of the world, film or music stars, fairy tales and legends, or similar breathtaking scenes. This surreal park in one single desert colour covers 15 km². There’s plenty for the whole family to marvel at and lots of fun to be had on the varied site. Don’t miss these spectacular photo motifs!
A visit after dark is especially mesmerising. Illuminated in an interplay of light and shadow, the sculptures form a mystical landscape that resembles a strange planet.
Tip: Be sure to bring sun protection, as there’s no shade on the site. Closed footwear is also recommended as the pathways are made of very fine sand.
