Holidaying with children: why your kids will love Salema
Family holidays need to be planned well. If the core components are not quite right, things can quickly become stressful for the whole family. Here are the five good reasons to head to Salema for a successful family break.
Shallow waters
The sandy beach that slopes gently into the sea is ideal for small children. There are no unpleasant stones and the water doesn’t suddenly get deeper. Rather, you can look forward to fine, clean sand that is perfect for splashing, playing and learning to swim. There is also a lifeguard service during peak season.

Our Casa Cavala is perhaps best for families: two adults and up to four children can comfortably fit here; the open-plan bedroom (without a door) is particularly suitable for young children you need to keep an eye on. Behind the house, towards the valley, there is a sheltered terrace with a table, benches and an outdoor barbecue; below it is a tree-filled garden. In the other direction, it is just a few minutes’ walk to the beach. Meaning there are various pleasant places for the kids to play.
Freedom and proximity to nature
There are no roads between the sevencollection houses and the beach. Only Casa Cavala is situated on a quiet rua with very little traffic. A private driveway leads up to Vila Marina No. 2. All of the other apartments can only be reached on foot. It is just a stone’s throw to the beach; views can also be enjoyed over the beach from the balconies and/or terraces of Vila Marina, Vila Ninho and Vila Varanda. One further feature adds to the authentic tranquil fishing village atmosphere: the many animals that roam around free.
Fun activities
A boat trip out on the sea to observe the dolphins up close is sure to be an unforgettable experience for adults and children alike. Want more action? Then you may want to take a trip to the Slide & Splash Water Park about 56 minutes’ drive away in Lagoa. Surfing, cycling ... and of course the many festivals for the young and old that mostly take place in the summer ... Activities are available for all those seeking more action. Simply spending time outside in the fresh air, playing imaginative games and building sandcastles also has its appeal though.

All of our apartments feature state-of-the-art TV screens to connect your games consoles or watch English-language programmes. Free Wi-Fi is naturally also available. The internet speed in Salema is approx. 16 Mbit/sec.
Mobile communication has long since become significantly more affordable for EU citizens holidaying in Portugal.
